February 2023 - Genetec API & SDK Webinar - WebSDK
-
As promised during the webinar, or in case you couldn’t make it, we are sharing the link to one of the webinar sessions recording, as well as answers to some of the questions we couldn’t answer live below.
This webinar covered the following topics:
- Introduction to the WebSDK
- WebSDK basics on setup and authentication
- WebSDK main features
- Under the hood of the WebSDK role
- WebSDK limitations and optimizations
Here are the main questions asked during all 3 webinar sessions, and their answers.
Q1: Is the duration between calls for KeepAlive configurable?
A1: The duration of the KeepAlive is not configurable, it is set to 5min.Q2: Is ANPR well supported in the WebSDK?
A2: There are certain features that are supported such as generating reads and hits reports, receiving events, and accessing LPR-related events.Q3: Can the WebSDK fire a print command to print the access card for a specific cardholder's profile with an HID printer?
A3: Unfortunately, this cannot be done. It would require the Workspace SDK.Q4: Is there a way to load all cardholder groups (Guids and Names) in a single call with the WebSDK? (Instead of needing to first lookup Guids, then have an additional call for each Guid returned from the first)
A4: You will not be able to do this in a single call. However, a multiquery request can be done to send a request with multiple Guids.Q5: Are there any media SDK controls that will be exposed to the WebSDK, such as PTZ?
A5: PTZ functionalities are available in the WebSDK, however they are limited. The Media SDK (.NET) should be used.Q6: When Genetec SDK can be done through Token instead of Basic Auth?
A6: Authentication via token is not currently possible and it is not in the current roadmap to provide this method for authentication.Q7: Are the device credentials encrypted or can they be retrieved?
A7: All passwords are encrypted for security reasons and cannot be retrieved via the SDK.Q8: Can we listen for any door/ cardholder assignment activity, as in cardholder assigned to cardholder group, access rule or door?
A8: No, you could run an Audit trail report to find such updates, but there are no event notifications in the WebSDK. Note the .Net SDK would have such events.Do you need more technical assistance with our API & SDK packages?
